"T3" The Gadget Magazine April 2013

Not long ago, suggesting that you might use a pedometer in your daily life would have produced incredulity from your nearest and dearest and, on certain housing estates, bricks through your window from less literate neighbours. Today, though, we've seen countless exercise motivating social apps, with a mass of health kit at CES, following in the wake of Fitbit and the Nike FuelBand. Fitness tech is destined for a huge, toned and desirable 2013.That's why we've dedicated this issue to achievingthe body beautiful through gadgetry;just heed our advice, power up and revitalise that promise you made to yourself on January 1. Oh, and ifyou're wondering where all that sunshine came from (p60), we flew to South Africa to"get the shot". Someone's got to do it.

Speaking of which, as you read this, a skulk of intrepid T3 foxeswill be heading to Barcelona to lap up the phone and-tablet assault that is Mobile World Congress.Previous years have proven it to be the place to wow the planet with amazing new devices. For the latest news, photos and hands-on video, make sure you visit T3.com. For an idea of the calibre oftoday's smartphones, however, turn to pIOl, where we've lined up first reviewsof BlackBerry's ZlO, the waterproof Sony Xperia Z - we call it the dryPhone, geddit? - and a group test of affordable yet splendid handsets for smaller budgets. Meanwhile, Lottery winners and tax-avoiding comedians should direct theirgaze to p33 where the most outrageous Android phoneever is laid bare. Vertu's first ever touchscreen phonecosts up to £14,000, but does include a concierge whocan suggest good places to hide from the bailiffs.

Invading this month's Radar section from p20 is a future-focused tech assault, with kit you'll be using, or be on the receiving end of, sometime soon, from homes and offices to terrifying ray-guns. For tomorrow's tech you can buy today, our Most Wanted is a must-read; Panasonic's

HD wonderbox eschews 4K,instead making TV a more personal experience, with customisable home screens that you fillwith your favourite apps and shows. It's a nifty bit of design that makes a real difference. Speakingof design, this month T3 applauds its icons, in associationwith Harrods. We've curated 20 products from the last fewyears that demonstrate the knack ofblending cutting-edge tech with beautiful design. We callit Art ofTechnology(p125).Not content with 20 pages of knock-out gadget photography? Youcan see the collection up close at Harrods in London, as it'll be open for your perusal throughout March - pI45 has details.
